Leiden University Scholarships 2023 Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria to apply for Leiden University Scholarships:

  • The student should first enroll in a Bachelors or Master’s degree program at Leiden University.
  • Not be a member of L.S.V Minerva.
  • The application pertains to an exceptional or prestigious study or research project in the Netherlands or abroad.
  • The projects fall in one of the following categories: internship, study or research.
  • After completion of the project, the student must submit a project report within three months, with accompanying images.

Obligations

  • Within three months of the end of the project, you must submit a project report with accompanying images.

  • Study plan essay for MS degree applicants
  • Scholarship Application Resume
  • Copies of all transcripts
  • Letter of Motivation
  • Research proposal for doctoral degree candidates
  • Copies of the undergrad or grad certificate
  • A copy of a valid passport for at least one year
  • Statement of purpose (SOP)
  • Recommendation letters should be by two of the former professors

How to apply

Application process

  1. Download an application form from www.minervascholarshipfund.com.
  2. Complete the form.
  3. Check you have all the required documents.
  4. Submit your complete application dossier to the address provided, before the deadline.

Note: There are two MSF application rounds per year. The deadlines for these are 15 April and 15 December.

Selection process

  • The allocation committee (consisting of Leiden lecturers from various disciples) will evaluate all applications on the basis of predetermined criteria. During the evaluation process, attention is given to the relevance of the research and how it will contribute to the advancement of academic knowledge.
  • You will be informed (max.) one month after the application deadline whether you have been awarded a scholarship.  

It is not possible to appeal against scholarship decisions.
